What we're learning about:
- Science: plants/nervous system/tracks & tracking
- Math: decimals & fractions along with probability are challenging us
- Social Studies: reading Devil's Arithmetic and discussing the Holocaust

Bible verse: The class completed Psalm 84: 1-12 and recited it to Mrs. Slater!!!
What we're learning about:
- Reading - Started reading program I refer to as F&F. The books we're reading have led to some super discussions.
- Science - Wind -> What causes it? We've also had some lively stories about experiences with the wind
- Social Studies - We are beginning to prep for the Social Studies State test.
I am always excited to teach the DBQ (document based question) to my students. It is a valuable tool they will use throughout their school careers.
What else is going on:
Field trip - Going to see the play Little Women.
Other - Unity and teamwork are our themes at this point. The 5th graders are learning some tough things and responding well to the challenges. God is SO good and has been a strong support throughout all of this.

What we're learning about:
- Math: Fractions, pre-algebra
- Bible: Esther & choices to help the defenseless - 4:14 Key verse
- Social Studies: Gov't. campaigns & world views / prep for state SS test in November
- Science: Wind and weather
- Reading: Homer Price / heroes, hard work, wisdom, creativity, attitude
- Language: Verbs & diagramming
What else is going on in class:
- Special events: we are making donuts in class when we finish with our reading book
- Field trips: Hiking to a fire tower on Kane Mountain (off Rte. 29A)
- Other: We are learning about team work and unity as a 5th grade class, and how that plays a large role in the dynamics of our classroom. Respect and responsibility are also a very important part of being a member of 5th grade.
