Bible: Worship unit and application - What is worship? What hinders worship? How do we worship? Extra practice for Chapel time leading up to the spring concert May 14th.
Math: percents/decimals/ratio; equations; geometry; continual reviewing of skills
Language Arts: skills to help the students with their Science Fair project
Social Studies/Science: The Greek Empire - the development of and its contributions and influence on society...connection with the book of Daniel Science Fair: taking notes, works cited page, spiritual application, report, display, oral presentation; asking a question and answering it by a demonstration or experiment; presentations are March 26, 9-11 am
We are looking together at the events leading up to Easter.

Bible: study of the Gospel - what it is and what it isn't; memorizing Psalm 27; praying daily for missionaries and missionary groups
Math: plotting co-ordinates; fractions/decimals/percents; ratio
Language Arts: preparation for Science Fair report coming in March - practicing taking notes, organizing notes, writing reports, presenting orally
Social Studies: Persian Empire and Greek Empire
Science: discovering a topic for Science Fair - a month of reading and discovering
Field Trips: In-house: electricity, magnets, and electromagnets - demonstrations and hands-on - buzzers, bells, lights!
This month we are involved in the school-wide Read-a-thon. We are presenting memorized verses A-Z at Pastors' Day. We are participating in "Bring a Friend to School" and enjoying a Valentine Party. We are continuing to learn songs for the spring concert and applying rhythm instruments.
January 2010
Bible: It is mission's month when we are watching DVD excerpts regarding various missions and missionaries. We are praying for them daily. We are preparing a skit to highlight Turkey. We are memorizing the alphabet of Scriptures.
Math: fractions, decimals; "holey cards" to improve math facts
Language Arts: fun writing using music and art; reading Words of Stone by Kevin Henkes; emphasis on character...getting an understanding of people, their problmes and what has led them to make good or bad choices
Social Studies: Ancient civilizations - Babylonian Empire
Science: Stars - each student has a starfinder and is finding constellations in the sky at night
Field Trips: via DVD and video - several needy places around the world (e.g. poorest of the poor in Cambodia)
My desire is for my students to have a heart of compassion, to be drawn to the needy in spirit, body, and mind.
