Atmosphere and Environment

Controlled by grace

  • Children, and adults, thrive in an atmosphere that is controlled by grace, where love and acceptance are offered. "I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free" (Psalm 119:32) describes well our school setting.

Attitude of Respect

  • Every person at Spa Christian is treated with respect, making this a safe and comfortable place to learn and work.
  • Our teachers know all the students in every grade, and care for them in and out of the classroom.

Hearts and minds are being trained

  • Along with developing academic skills, teachers address heart issues and attitudes as children interact within the classrooms, in hallways and the lunchroom, and on the playground.

Friendly children draw in others

  • A transfer student exclaimed his first day that the "Kids here like each other, and I didn’t get picked on."
  • Many students enter Spa Christian from a homeschooling setting and all have found the transition to be a comfortable and joyful experience.

Location

  • We are located just a mile off route 50 in Ballston Spa, and four miles from exit 13N of I-87, the Northway.
  • Bussing is provided by the following school districts for students in kindergarten through sixth grade who live within fifteen miles and apply by April 1st:

    • Ballston Spa
    • Burnt Hills/Ballston Lake
    • Corinth
    • Galway
    • Saratoga Springs
    • Schuylerville
    • Shenendehowa
    • Stillwater

Building

  • We enjoy plenty of space in the education wing of Hope Church.
  • Classrooms are bright and cheery.
  • Our building is situated on a treed lot with a safe, child-friendly playground.

Safety

  • The safety of your children is of prime importance to us. Our building is well-secured throughout the entire school day.
  • Bus and car dismissal have excellent staff oversight.
  • Staff members are current in CPR and first aid.
  • Safety and fire drills are conducted regularly to keep us pro-active in safety awareness.
  • Our safety curriculum, Risk Watch, is an interactive program that reminds students in every grade of the importance of safety related to fires, biking, swimming, and many common activities.

Parental involvement

  • At Spa Christian School we believe that children belong to parents, not to the school. You are the primary educators and we are here to work with you, academically and spiritually.
  • Our PTF (Parent Teacher Fellowship) is active in teaching parents on various topics in education, providing fellowship activities among families, and in several fund-raising activities to help provide for "extras" in the classroom for the children.

Governance

  • While the school rents facilities from Hope Church, we are an independent corporation, and maintain our own by-laws, budget, and governing board.
  • A school board of six members is the policy-making body that oversees the school.
