THANKSGIVING FEAST
Our annual Thanksgiving “Feast” will be held on Tuesday, November 25 at 11:30 a.m. The students will be serving one another by preparing and serving a simple meal together. Students will make vegetable soup, rolls, and pudding and will eat together in each other’s classrooms on Tuesday. (If your child will not enjoy soup and rolls, please feel free to send a sandwich.)
All kindergarten students will stay for the meal and those who normally go home at 11:30 should be picked up at 12:15 p.m.
Students are encouraged to wear colonial or Native American dress.
Parent volunteers are need on Tuesday to help each class with food preparation and serving. Please call Deb Lohaus (885-3722) or the school office (885-0508) to volunteer.
LUNCH
Lunch on Tuesday, November 25, is the Thanksgiving Feast. If your child has a lunch card, we will stamp one space on his/her card. If your child does not have a lunch card, please send in $2 to help cover the cost.
KINDERGARTEN
Do you have toys that your children have outgrown or do not use anymore? The kindergarten class is collecting “next to new” toys and will be donating them to Noah’s Attic in Ballston Spa. Noah’s Attic is a consignment shop/food pantry and the toys will be given away free to families in need. Thank you for your help.
HANNAFORD HELPS SCHOOLS
Our total keeps growing; we’re up to $577 in “school dollar” coupons collected so far.
ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS
Keep selling those Entertainment Books. More are available from the office and sell for $30 each.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Thank you so much for your generosity to Operation Christmas Child! We are packing boxes this week and will let you know in the Spa News next week how many boxes we are sending.
SCHOOL/CHURCH WORK DAY
Thank you to the following families who were represented at the church/school workday this past Saturday: Carter, Combs, Elder, Emerson, Guadarrama, Hall, Kent, LaBounty, MacDonald, McDonnell. Lots of work was accomplished and your efforts were very much appreciated by both the church and the school.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Mitchell Fischer (gr. 3) and to Mrs. Slater’s mom, Ruth Campbell, who have both recited 1 John 1:3-10.
CHRISTMAS GIFT WRAPPING
Our annual Christmas gift-wrapping service at Wilton Mall. will be December 11 – 24 (excluding Sundays) during mall hours, and we are counting on EVERY family to help with this fundraiser. Attached is the schedule on which you will see many open slots. Please check your calendar and see when you can staff a shift and then call the office to sign up. Working together, we can make this a very successful event. What will give you the opportunity for service, ministry, fellowship, fun, and fund-raising for our school?
SCHOOL BANKING
We have just been notified by First Niagara Bank that interest rates on your child’s savings account will be changing as of Friday, November 21. Account balances from $0.00 - $999.00 will earn 2.47%, from $1,000 - $4,999.99 will earn 1.73%, from $5,000 - $9,999.99 will earn 1.00%, and balances above $10,000 will earn .5%.
CONFERENCES
We know that scheduling is sometimes difficult, and we thank you for making time to come in to meet with your child/ren’s teacher(s). This is a valuable time for our teachers as they get to know your child through your perspective.
BOOK FAIR
Our book fair was a great success, and because of your participation, our school has earned almost $360 in new books for our library. Thank you!
BRRRR!
It’s cold outside and children need a jacket or coat, a hat, and gloves or mittens each day. It’s almost time to get snow pants and boots out as well.
GOLF
Here’s a great Christmas gift idea. The Saratoga National Golf Club has generously donated gift certificates for a complimentary round of golf (after 1 p.m.) to be used before June 1, 2009. Each of the 16 certificates is valued at $75. We will sell them for $50 and all proceeds benefit the school.
CORE VALUES
Our next Core Value is Service: A servant’s heart will be developed as students are encouraged to direct an outward focus toward others both within the school and to the lost and needy worldwide. (John 13:14; Matt. 28:19)
Every class will seek opportunity to demonstrate practical service to the needy each year. Teachers will lead each class in ongoing prayer within the classroom regarding local and global needs.
