Dress Code
Students at Spa Christian School are to dress modestly and with respect for others, in keeping with Biblical principles and with care for our Christian witness. When children dress appropriately for school, they are more diligent in their academic efforts. We expect students to be dressed in a neat and clean manner and with an attitude that reflects obedience and cooperation rather than disrespect.
Girls will wear dresses or skirts that are close to knee length or longer, or slacks as specified below. Culottes that look like a skirt and are close to knee length or longer are acceptable, as are gauchos and leggings under a skirt, and capris. Tops may be blouses or knit tops with no writing, not a t-shirt or tank top, and no spaghetti straps.
Boys will wear slacks as defined below, and a shirt with a collar or buttons that is of appropriate size. Shirts shall be neatly tucked in unless specifically designed to be worn untucked. A sweater, fleece or hoodie may be worn over an appropriate shirt; no sweatshirts.
Slacks for boys and girls will be “Dockers” or “chinos” style. They may be of woven or knit material with a plain or pleated front. Dress shorts, but not athletic shorts, that are close to knee length may be worn by boys or girls in warmer weather. Jeans, camouflage, flannel pants, sweatpants, bib overalls, and spandex or other form-fitting pants such as bike clothing, exercise pants, or stretch pants are not included.
Shoes, sandals or dress boots are required on non-gym days. Students are welcome to leave sneakers at school to wear for recess. Outdoor boots, flip flops and other beach wear are not included in the dress code.
Hair should be neat and of natural color. Hair, and all attire, should reflect a Christ-like attitude and should not attract undue attention.
Each student shall have at least one Spa Christian imprinted polo shirt to wear with tan slacks, at the request of the administrator or classroom teacher, for selected field trips or other school activities (e.g. – parades) when a “unified identifying look” should be presented.
Gym Dress Code: Students will wear the following to school on gym days: navy blue Spa Christian t-shirt and shorts, white socks, and sneakers. Navy blue or white clothing may be worn underneath for warmth or modesty. A solid, navy blue (no logo other than Spa Christian, no pictures, no writing) sweatshirt and sweatpants or Spa Christian sweats may be worn over this in cold weather. A navy or white tank or turtleneck may be worn beneath.
* It is the responsibility of the parents to see that their children are dressed properly, and if not, they will not be permitted to attend class and the parents will be notified. This code is not definitive and the Administrator has the final judgment in interpretation.
